Join the stroke recovery revolution!

It marks the point in the journey where the person starts to set realistic and rewarding goals and visualize success.

I'll guide you through this stroke journey.

The book cover for "Beyond Shattered" shows a visual metaphor of life after a stroke using a puzzle image.

Are you feeling lost and overwhelmed by a life-changing event? You are not alone. This book is a roadmap for anyone who's been dealt a life-altering blow and feels lost in the rubble.

It's a guide, a hand reaching out to pull you through your own recovery journey, no matter what that journey is.

It is for those who have experienced an accident, illness, heartbreak, or any event that leaves them feeling like their life has been kicked into a million jagged pieces

Why is this book so helpfull?

It's a guide filled with practical tips and strategies that helped me overcome challenges and rebuild my life that will help you too.

Remember those corner pieces in a puzzle? They're the ones that hold everything together. That's what your support system is like! Family, friends, medical pros, support groups—they're your cheerleaders, your shoulder to cry on, and the ones who remind you that you're never alone. I'll share practical tips on how to build and nurture these essential relationships.

Your journey matters. You have a unique perspective that can inspire and uplift others. I'll give you the tools and confidence to share your story, whether it's through writing, speaking, or simply connecting with others who understand.

This isn't just some feel-good mumbo jumbo. Visualization is like rocket fuel for your recovery. I'll show you how to use it to set goals, stay motivated, and achieve amazing things you never thought possible.

Think of your body and mind as a high-performance machine. To keep it running smoothly, you need to give it the best fuel! That means prioritizing sleep, staying hydrated (ditch the boring water—we're making fruity infusions!), nourishing your body with good food, and getting that body moving (even if it's just gentle stretches at first). I'll share practical tips and strategies to make self-care feel like a treat, not a chore.

Life after a stroke might look different, but guess what? It can be even more awesome than before! I'll show you how to explore new interests, find hidden talents, and discover a renewed sense of purpose that makes you jump out of bed in the morning (or at least roll out with a smile!).

I'm all about giving you the tools you need to rock this recovery thing! From setting SMART goals (they're not as intimidating as they sound!) to finding creative ways to adapt to challenges...

As a recovering stroke person, I've tried reading (or someone reading to me) many self help books. Mr. Bartelle's book is by far my favorite. I believe that he talks directly to you in a sincere and genuine manner. He gives you encouragement and hope and a true incentive to diminish those "pity parties." When I first read it, I thought "Beyond Shattered" was describing how I felt after my first stroke, but it really means that you can go beyond the initial shock of losing so much of your old life. The tips on self-care are helpful. This book is different from other books because you can really feel that it is written from the heart. My family and I thank you for your generous contribution of Hope to us and many many others.

This signifies a newfound sense of clarity and purpose, and a recognition of personal strength gained through the journey.

As a former teacher-turned caretaker, I read this book after it was recommended to me. The author, Lewis Bartelle, tells his journey of stroke recovery and offers support and encouragement through his words. I found it very inspiring. The teacher in me appreciated the intentionally designed layout - using larger print, having places for the eyes to rest, and having ‘bite-size’ sections was a brilliant choice because the folks who can benefit the most from Lewis’ positive energy and message may find a typically written book - difficult to read. The author also urges the reader to self-reflect and leaves space within the pages for journaling - and, I might add - a place to practice relearning how to write (for some survivors). This would be a wonderful gift for a brain-injury survivor but also, an inspiration for any reader.

The color yellow represents optimism and a newfound appreciation for life's precious moments.

Frank

As a recent survivor with no prior health issues, no risk factors, and no family history of strokes, I was totally unprepared for the challenges of recovery. While I received plenty of sound advice on the physical aspects, info on coping with the psychological aspects and my "new normal" was scarce until I found this book. Mr. Bartelle candidly describes the grief and frustration we face when doing what were previously simple tasks, but he also shows the way toward rehabilitation through building blocks such as adequate sleep, diet, faith, socializing, and challenging oneself. His realism and positive attitude throughout his journey are inspiring, and I thank him for sharing his experience!

is a beacon of hope, reminding us that even when life throws curveballs, we have the power to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and create something even more beautiful and resilient.
